Nantucket Lightship Baskets have been a part of our store for many years. In the past we have sold the originals but as prices have been steadily on the rise we decided to find a more affordable basket that didn't require a mortgage to purchase. Photo to the left shows some of the styles and designs of baskets available. There are many options and combinations to make this a custom basket suitable to your requirements. Our natural cane baskets come to us unfinished and are then sanded and stained to resemble the older style baskets. They are then sprayed with Helmsman Spar Urethane for weather protection. The top wood inlay is then  sanded flat and finished in matching or contrasting stains, then the scrimshaw plaque  is attached.  Our scrimshaw tops are a very high quality reproduction and impossible to tell from original scrimshaw. The end results is a very unique basket that has been finished to a higher quality than the off the shelf types more commonly found.
